Young windsurfers progress at an incredible rate given the right tools for the job. Their rigs need to be light and responsive but also durable enough to handle the rigours of regular sailing and often racing. The Dino is offered as a complete rig, built to the highest specifications, with a quality boom and mast.
With its specially developed soft mast and narrow boom, the Dino delivers all the feel and performance of an adult rig to the lighter, younger windsurfer.
Since its introduction we’ve seen a new generation of young windsurfers, who began with the Dino, stepping up to international competitive windsurfing! New for 2010 is an X-ply edition, offering additional durability for centres and extra heavy use.
The Dino mast is a particularly important component as the small sails require a softer mast to allow the leech to twist off in gusts. Without the soft masts, the modern design Dino sails don't work properly; the rider may as well be on a basic training rig with a stiff alloy mast.
In the UK, the Team 15 youth scheme sees regular junior racing in several categories. Across the country the Dino is by far the most popular sail in the racing, selected by both centres and parents for easy, forgiving performance and excellent durability.

In the UK the RYA’s popular Team 15 scheme offers exciting racing for under 15’s. With superb handling the Dino is a proven design with countless victories in the 3.5 and 4.5m classes. As youngsters step up to the 5.5m size, Tushingham suggest the camber induced XR-Race, evolved from another proven race winner .

The Dino has a special soft mast and Tushingham strongly advise the appropriate Dino mast to partner the sail. The sail is usually sold as a complete rig, saving on individual component prices.
The 4.5m sail, with its longer luff length can be rigged on a small adult mast (such as the RD 60 370) but the lighter, softer Dino mast offers superior performance for young riders.

A true high performance mast for kids. Built using a hand laid 60% carbon, pre-preg' laminate construction, the Dino allows a rig that will react in a way that was not possible on a conventional spar. The Dino is based on the narrow RDM diameter but is far softer, for a perfect fit with the specially cut Dino sail. Durable, but exceptionally light, the Dino mast and rig opens our sport to the younger generation.
