The First Adaptable Multi Fin Wave Board

The Quads are the all-out powerful wave designs that generate maximum speed and drive, bringing an awesome production of speed, flow and power to your sailing. Stable and direct in feel, the Quads are most rewarding when driven hard off the rails for power turns. They like to turn on a full rail. With their four-fin grip, they give a very connected-to-the-wave-face sensation yet they still give the ability to lose the tail when extended through the lip for a rotational, whipped move.

Powerful, carving rail riders like Scott McKercher and Kevin Pritchard live for such performance.

Onshore setting: maximum drive, lots of grip and extra upwind power. Great for onshore jumps too. The back fin adjusts forwards to loosen up the board, or backwards to stabilize the board.

Sideshore setting: Smoother arc through the turns with controlled power for precise maneuvering. Adjust the back fins forwards or backwards to fine-tune between looseness and stability.

Skate setting: the choice for fast, powerful waves and a skatey feel. The twin fin setting allows the tail to breakout for top turn slashes and takas.

All shapes remain the same as the 2011 model except for the 87. The Quad IQ 87 has its bottom shape tweaked to include less Vee in the midsection, smoothening out its rockerline for a more constant curve.

All Quad IQs are now supplied with four G10 Quad fins, leaving the twin fins as optional aftermarket items. A set of plugs are still supplied with the board if the rider wishes to plug the front fin boxes in twin-fin mode.

The 2012 Quad features,
- Smooth, continuous rockerlines have a flattened out area under the back foot

- Vee bottom feeds into a mono-concave in the tail

- Soft, rounded rails in the midsection and the nose for a smooth grip

- Compact, wide and powerful outlines

- New 2012 Quad 87 shape: its bottom shape has been tweaked to include less - Vee in the midsection, smoothening out its rockerline for a more constant curve.

- Heel bumpers

- Four G10 Quad fins supplied as standard

- Ultra-light Slot Boxes are used for minimal weight (plugs are also included with the board) Below are some close-ups of the 2012 Quad.
The 2012 Quad comes with a choice of two constructions for optimium performance, Wood and Wood Carbon. Both constructions include Starboards "ProtectFilm" - UV protection for wood. All constructions are shown in the main pictures above.

Wood Construction
Developed by Jean Louis Colmas in 1984, Wood Technology became Starboard's trademark construction in 1995. Starboard's production Wood boards then set the lead in lightweight sandwich technology, weighing in at a kilo under the competition, yet with higher impact resistance. A sheet of 0.6 mm Australian plantation pine wood forms the full outer shell of the board. Wood's unique properties are its natural rigidity, superior resistance to compression and higher energy absorption compared to carbon. It is the construction with the highest dynamic shape stability.

Advantages: lighter weight, highest dynamic shape stability, rigid flex, quicker response.

Wood Carbon
A combination of a wood spine / wood bottom with ultra light, flat-weave carbon. The first board construction in the World to utilize an ultra light carbon fibre that is flat-weaved for total mechanical efficiency at half the specific weight of regular carbon weaves.

Advantages: lightest weight, stiffest flex, quickest response.
The 2012 Quad comes in five sizes, allowing a variety of riders to make the most out of the conditions. The specifications for the boards are shown below.
