North Neo 2016- high performance wave-freeride
Responsive steering when depowered
Fast and consistant turningg
Very powerful(Choose 1-2 Kite sizes smaller)
Easy water relaunch
Moderate delta three strut design
The Neo is the definition of a high performance wave kite and continues to meet the needs of the rider with ease. Thanks to the design concept behind the Neo and the power it delivers, riders are able to use at least 1-2sqm less in comparison to any other kite. This advantageous aspect further enhances its already rapid turning abilities, effortless float down the line, and responsiveness to handling which when combined, ensures ease of manoeuvrability on the wave.
Taking wipeouts into consideration, we’ve made the Neo incredibly easy to relaunch so you can get up and away before the next wave hits. The new Anti-Snag leading edge tips will keep the kite tangle free no matter how bad the crash. For 2016, legendary kite designer Ken Winner has been tweaking the geometry of the Neo to achieve even more depower, whilst maintaining the famous low end power delivery. This provides an intuitive feel to the hands, leaving you to concentrate on the wave rather than where the kite is.
Ken has also worked on a new tip strut shape, making the Neo even faster through the turn. If you want to ride the best waves in the world, you’ll need the best wave kite on the market to take you there. The Neo is the ultimate engine for slaying the waves

Quality means a lot to North Kiteboarding. For this reason we have focused our efforts on the best quality management possible over the last few years. We expect lasting performance in a wide range of conditions from our kites. We expect to design kites that fulfill and surpass the wishes and demands of our customers. To ensure we can attain this goal, quality begins at the very first stages of kite manufacturing. We know that a product is always only as good as its weakest detail, which is the reason why all details in construction and production methods have been and continue to be analyzed and optimized over the years. We like to simply call this design and quality standard Progression Q. In this ongoing process, we continuously work on improvements, but the basic idea remains the same: By standardizing details in construction and design across our entire range it has become possible to optimize production processes and to use materials more efficiently. The result is products that are all automatically at the same level of quality at any given time. Both of our kite designers work together closely so that each kite model in our range automatically benefits from every new idea or experience. Pro Q represents durability, timeless performance, and the highest possible quality control standards.
Re - Launch bungees
In order to make the relaunch easier and to avoid any possible line tangling, we've added Relaunch Bungees at the kite tip. The bungees keep the lines lying slick against the inside of the leading edge, preventing any line from going over the top of the kite during the relaunch.
Self Rescue handles
These loops attached to the inside of the wingtips make it easier to hold the kite for bodydrag rescue.
North Adaptive tip
Since 2012, Rebel, Evo, Neo and Fuse feature the new “Adaptive Tip”. In recent years, there has been a trend leaning towards more reactive kites with even lighter sheeting forces than in the past. Such kites are really comfortable, lively for wave riding and offer more forgiving kite loops because they pivot around the wingtip. However, comparison tests have shown that our team riders and testers actually prefer kites with a harder bar feel because they offer better feedback, precise steering and more dynamic turning, which in turn creates more power.
The new “Adaptive Tip” allows users to easily change the sheeting force and turning performance through a simple back pigtail adjustment, allowing you to customize your kite to your desired style and feel.
The valve is suitable for both, inflation and deflation. The deflation option is integrated, which means no external deflation pin is required. Deflation is simply activated by turning the blue wheel on the inside of the valve completely to the right.
North Lazy pump
One valve for inflating, one valve for deflating the whole kite.
Easy and efficient.
4 to 5th line
Shows the ability if a kite can be transformed from a 4 line kite into a 5th line kite.
Kook Proof connectors
- These connectors prevent one cause of kite accidents by ensuring that front lines cannot be attached to the back of the kite and back lines cannot be attached to the front.
TE Force control
The Trailing Edge Force Control describes the smooth power distribution between the different materials of the kite, forcing the tensions in the
right directions.Compared to 2013 the waves are higher and wider to eliminate stress points between the Dacron Trailing Edge and the D2 Canopy Material. This change in construction reduces flattering marks and ensures that the material is not wearing out.
The kite can be used with North quad 4 line bar or trust 5th element bar.
5th Element Bar
Safety is an essential topic in a sport where you are facing the power of the elements and in some situations are totally on your own. The North patented 5th line system has provided the greatest combination of safety and performance for many years now. Year after year, the 5th line concept proves its reliability and 100% instant depower after a safety release no matter what the conditions. The system still has a commanding lead compared to other safety systems available on the market. This is why we at North Kiteboarding believe in the 5th line concept. What’s more, the 5th line makes water relaunch effortless and the loaded 5th line kite designs (Vegas and Rebel) offer a very short depower stroke, giving the rider ultimate control in gusty conditions. The benefits of this set-up are obvious and appreciated by riders all over the world.
The established 4-line system offers a single fronline safety system. When releasing the single frontline system all the power is redirected to one single frontline, whereby the kite will flag out easily and rest powerless on the water. Moreover, the kite will remain in a position that is ideal to relaunch the kite from the water. The safety pulley is specially designed for the single frontline safety system. The Quad Control bar is the safest 4-line bar on the market, offering unrivalled control and safety release options. The Iron Heart release is unparalleled in its efficiency and ease of use and forms the core of the bar through which the other safety systems flow. This allows the rider to get things back under control quickly and easily. The Quad Control Bar is identical to the 5th Element Bar aside from the 4 lines and single front line safety setup, ensuring it is the best on the market. However, 4-line systems can only offer limited safety functions. For ultimate safety and 100% depower, riders should choose the 5-line
-: eva cushioned winding post with flip-flop function for easy width adjustment
-: vario cleat and sliding stopper for easy height adjustment
-: integrated backline adjuster to trim rear lines
-: fully integrated eva floater to protect lines and rider
-: exchangeable plastic center part insert
-: moulded eva floater for safety leash prevents line tangling
-: huge depower & absolute safety
-: push pins for flip-flop function
The Winding Posts are made of a fully moulded fibreglass reinforced Polyamide construction, which offers an incredibly lightweight solution with increased stiffness. In addition to this, there is a moulded EVA cushioning to ensure maximum comfort for the rider. The Winding Posts feature an integrated backline adjustment, which allows the rider to trim the rear lines when needed.
Never ride without the cover. It prevents the knot of the leader line from slipping out of its housing. -
INTERGRATED EVA FLOATER
FLIP FLOP FUNCTION
The moulded EVA floater is fully integrated into the winding posts to offer a seamless connection, which gives better protection to the lines and the rider. The integration of the EVA floater also avoids line tangling and gives better overall stiffness between the bar and lines. To achieve better and more direct feedback on the thumb, we added a push pin on the outside of the winding post for easy operation. The Flip-Flop function allows you to switch between a 53 cm and 46 cm bar width (M/ L bar) and 49 cm and 42 cm bar width (S / M bar) with just one click. This makes the procedure of changing the bar set up far simpler.
Plastic, fitted centre hole
The exchangeable insert for the centre hole is made of plastic, to minimise wear on the depower line. The material we use is resistant to abrasion, and will cause much less damage, if sand is present, to the line itself.
STICKY & ERGONOMIC BAR GRIP
A small diameter of the bar allows a very thick EVA bar grip. This offers ideal control and comfort.
The North Kiteboarding Iron Heart is the benchmark for all safety systems and we are continuously aiming to further improve this essential piece of safety equipment. It is renowned for a fast, safe and easy release, coupled with the ability to quickly reassemble the unit and continue flying.
MOULDED CHICKEN LOOP & CHICKEN DICK
Exchanging the Chicken Loop or removing the Chicken Dig is easy due to the grub screw. Simply use an FCS fin key to remove the screws. The flexible moulded construction offers comfort and allows for easy reassembling. It is warp resistant and dimensionally stable which makes it very easy to hook back in after unhooked tricks, as the loop stays in shape. -
With every North Kiteboarding Bar, there is a choice between the standard safety mode and an easy to fix ”suicide” mode. Only very experienced riders with special requirements should use the suicide mode.
Only the standard safety mode offers 100% safety. We recommend to always using the standard safety mode. Riders who use the suicide mode should be aware and responsible for the possible consequences!
THE REVERSE RELEASE PIN
The heart of the Iron Heart IV is the reverse release pin and one of the keys of the intelligent release mechanism. Unlike other safety systems, it hinges to the inside to protect your hands. The reverse release pin is the reason for the incredibly low release forces enabling you to release with little exertion. -
The Roto Head permits you to untangle the lines after a rotational jump or a kiteloop while you are riding. It is made from an extremely durable plastic construction where no corrosion is possible. The Roto Head comes with two grub screws making it easy and fast to change the depower line. Simply use an FCS fin key to remove the screws and change the depower line. -
Vario Cleat and sliding stopper
The Vario Cleat and Sliding Stopper enable a quick and easy adjustment of the depower stroke. Especially interesting for smaller riders who have problems reaching the bar in the regular setting. The height of the Vario Cleat and Sliding Stopper can be easily adjusted to suit personal preferences. The reduced size combined with the smaller Vario Cleat accounts for 12% more depower area. The 5th line channel reduces the risk of the 5th line getting tangled considerably.
The Safety Leash offers excellent floatation, guaranteed protection and ease of handling. The moulded EVA construction covering the hook is softer and prevents lines from tangling; the hook itself can still be bent in two directions. The EVA cover can be pulled back for easy hooking in and out to the suicide ring at the chicken loop. The safety release function is positioned at the end of the leash where it is attached to the harness; giving you the possibility to release the kite completely at any time. -
Line Length Adviser
Three years ago we introduced different line length ranging from 19 to 27 metres as the length of the flying lines can make a huge difference to the way the kite flies. Different styles of riding, different kite models or the kite size can be influencing factors that require different line length. In order to further increase this synergy effect the 19 and 22 m lines come on a medium bar (49/42 cm) and the 24 and 27 m lines on a large bar (53/46 cm). The bar is the rider’s first point of contact with the kite. In order to achieve a maximum comfort when riding it is essential to match the kite and the rider’s style of riding to the correct line length.
19m (70% Handling / 30% Power)
Super fast and reactive turning speeds, shorter lines are best for extreme freestyle and crazy kite loops. They are also excellent for wave riding, where the kites turning speed is important. Wakestyle riders enjoy the close connection to the kite too. The disadvantage is you lose some of the lowend power.
› Fast and reactive turning
› For extreme Freestyle, Wakestyle and Waves
› Tight, super fast and hard kite loops
› Narrower bar width
22m (60% Handling / 40% Power)
The favourite length of our freestyle and wave team riders. The 22m lines are still great for getting lots of speed from the kite, perfect for wave riding and freestyle. Not as extreme as the 19m lines, they still lose a bit of low-end power.
› Reactive turning
› Fast kite loops
› Favourite set up of our freestyle riders
› Best choice for waveriding
› Narrower bar width
24m (50% Handling / 50% Power)
One bar fits all. The 24m lines are the best choice for an all round length, good turning speed combined with good power make 24m the perfect choice for a lot of riders. Great for freeride, waves and freestyle.
› The most versatile length
› Great for all round freeriding
› Good low end and a good turning speed
› High jumps as you can “load” the lines
› The recommended size for a one bar quiver!
27m (40% Handling / 60% Power)
The extra length means extra power, you get a little more range out of your quiver by adding this bar with the longer lines. They are also great for jumping as you can really “load” the lines when you edge and send the kite back through the window.
› Enormous low-end
› Huge jumps
› Lots of lift
