Freestyle wave

Is a light, powerful freestyle/wave sail with explosive acceleration. It will feel right at home in the waves, bringing modern freestyle maneuvers into the wave arena. From air chachos to e-sliders this sail is aggressive and smooth at the same time.

Main Points
• Designed for modern freestyle manoeuvres.
• Excels in light-wind wave conditions.
• Neutral in manoeuvres with instant powering & de-powering.
• Lightweight and powerful resulting in explosive acceleration.

What's New
With the shorter boom and longer mast there is reduced roach. That, together with the higher draft in the sail creates a really stable leech and good power for amazing “pop” during jumps and great control during rotation. All with a small head to keep it feeling light.

The 2012 Firefly comes in two colours, as seen in the pictures above - Green or Red.

The Firefly 2012 is a crossover - freestyle/wave sail, to create this the characteristics of the sail are explained below.

Moderate flat profile:keeping the sail neutral and light during manoeuvres.

Short boom length for optimum manoeuvrability.

Higher clew: For high-cut foot and to help position the sail during duck or stall manoeuvres.

Progressive luff curve: Makes the sail tunable to accommodate its versatility. The sail will always have a reasonable draft in the bottom, under minimal and maximum downhaul settings..

See below for a comparison of characteristics between Neil Prydes wave sails.

The Firefly has five main construction features, each explained below.

Armourweb HD Dyneema®
Durable, thick polyester yarns at 90 and 180 degrees, interlaced with the ultra-strong Dyneema® yarns at +/- 40 degrees for optimum tear resistance and durability. Used along the top perimeter of the Wave, X-Over, Kids and SUP sails, preventing damage in critical areas.

Armourweb Dyneema®
Durable, flat polyester yarns at 90 and 180 degrees, interlaced with ultra-strong Dyneema® yarns at +/- 40 degrees for optimum tear resistance and lightweight. Used on all coloured film of the Wave, Race, Kids and X-Over sails.

Twin Seams
Twice the muscle and twice the endurance. Double stitching is now used on all critical seams on all sails allowing them to endure prolonged exposure to high loads and impacts.

Compact Clew
The Compact Clew improves control of the sail in three ways: reduced boom length, a more compact outline with rider-focused surface area and improved sail twist. Available on Wave and X-Over sails.

The 2012 Firefly comes in 6 sizes. The specifications are shown in the chart below.
