Tushingham Storm Tushingham Storm Ref: 204
Not all high-wind sailors are wave sailors; Tushingham were the first to recognise this by designing a sail for all-round performance in high winds and chop. The Storm delivers a blend of balance and power that combines comfort and control with blistering performance through the full spectrum of high wind conditions. A multiple test winner since its introduction, the Storm continues to evolve and is now considered by many as one of the most successful sails in the history of windsurfing. The Storm features a significant range of adjustment, by way of the downhaul and outhaul controls, to guarantee that you will find the best setting for any sailing style or sea condition. The end result is a sail that you can simply forget about, in the best possible way, freeing your attention for best performance and control. The 2008 Storm is produced in a comprehensive size range, the most complete multi-discipline range of high wind sails ever produced.

The Storm offers a blend of balance and power that makes for comfort and performance through the full spectrum of high wind conditions. It has a very wide range of tuning adjustment and it's so well balanced that it almost feels as if there's nothing there. It allows free use of your attention for best performance and control.

Tushingham Thunderbird T3 Tushingham Thunderbird T3 Ref: 379
Tushingham have led the field in freeride performance, since the landmark Heckler burst onto the scene back in 1999. The Hekler received rave reviews. Since that time, their focus has been on refining the blend of all-round performance, through the biggest possible wind range, and combining this with the excellent handling that has become a Ken Black hallmark. The Hekler, Max, Thunderbird and now the Thunderbird T3, have all developed this theme, to what is now an incredibly high standard. The introduction of the new 'Airframe' construction technique to the 'T3 brings further significant improvements. A lighter overall weight combined with improved durability and stability of flow-shape will ensure that the Thunderbird will deliver the promised performance for longer than ever. The T3 features a huge range of adjustment by way of downhaul and outhaul, that allows the rider to achieve a setting to suit their weight and sailing style and to adjust for the conditions. It can be set full for low-end power or flat and twisted in a style that will handle the most overpowering conditions with ease. The 'T3 is very fast; in fact it has a performance that, only a few years ago, was the preserve of dedicated race sails. Although it's strongly built, the aerodynamic efficiency of the 'T3 means that it still feels remarkably light in the hands, particularly during transitions and manoeuvres. It's this combination of terrific performance together with trouble free, no cam, easy rigging and easy handling, that makes this the perfect freeride sail for 90% of sailors and conditions. With many years of continuous development behind it and now with the introduction of the 'Airframe' construction technology, the Thunderbird T3, truly is the benchmark freeride sail.

Strongly built, the aerodynamic efficiency of the T3 means that it still feels remarkably light in the hands. However, this is now combined with a blistering performance that would put many dedicated race sails in the shade. It's the perfect Freeride sail for 90% of sailors and conditions.

Tushingham Mustang Tushingham Mustang Ref: 374
The geometric forces within the rig are very different for smaller sailors. By reducing the boom height and most importantly, the height of the centre of effort Tushingham have been able to make a sail that's far more comfortable and controllable for sailors below 5'6" (1.68m) tall. As a general rule, smaller sails in the windsurfing industry have been developed by bigger guys for use in a lot of wind. The Mustang breaks this mould: smaller sailors will be able to sheet in and lock the rig down to drive the board, where previously, the rig was lifting them and making it difficult to control. In all other respects this sail is similar in concept to the Thunderbird T3 and all the same comments apply. The Mustang is an outstanding freeride sail that combines true high performance with comfort and control for smaller and medium sized people.

Similar in concept to the Thunderbird, the Mustang is a great Freeride sail that combines true high performance with comfort and control for smaller and medium sized people.

Tushingham Rock Tushingham Rock Ref: 305
Many sailmakers will tell you that there are many different types of wave sail and they back this up by producing three full ranges. Tushingham experience has always been that wave conditions are many and varied and that few sailors are able to specialise in one specific 'style' of wave sailing. Their focus has been to produce one super adjustable sail that will cope with whatever's thrown at it. A brand new Rock for 2008 which, builds on the reputation for all-round wave ability. Big variations in power can be achieved by using the outhaul as well as the downhaul. This makes for easier adjustment on the water, even during a competition wave heat. The new panel layout with 30mm double seams in all high stress areas, plus Tushingham's unique PVC crash panel incorporates many detail improvements for an incredibly high level of durability. Although very strong, the Tushingham 'Airframe' construction keeps the sail physically light and its aerodynamic efficiency makes the Rock feels remarkably light in the hands. It's what Ken Black calls his 'Forget about it' feel, allowing 100% concentration on the job in hand. Two new super small sizes extend the Rock's appeal to include storm-chasers and kids with a high level of wave ability.

The Rock features the unique Tushingham elliptical crash panel in the centre of the window. This panel is made of flexible PVC; it acts as a shock absorber during crashes and impacts, which greatly reduces the point loading on the rest of the sail. This allows building the sail from stable, high performance materials, for maximum performance combined with a crisp light feel.

New features for 2007/2008

Tushingham Lightning Tushingham Lightning Ref: 59
Full on, multi cam race sails only work properly when seriously overpowered, and even then, they're not really designed to perform across the wind on a reach. The Lightning brings you the result of lessons learned on the racing circuit, but delivers them in a true user-friendly package. The larger sizes are the perfect tools for large, early planing boards, whilst the smaller sizes are the first choice for slalom racing and speed events. The Lightning presents a less extreme experience than the X-15 and will appeal to sailors looking for performance across a wider range of wind-speeds. It's cut fairly flat, but with the camber locked in, it delivers plenty of low-end power with a minimum of effort from the sailor. As the wind increases, seven battens and two new style roller cams ensure the sail remains totally stable, delivering phenomenal speeds whilst remaining easy to use. The Lightning remains very easy to rig, and combines the best attributes of a race sail with the user-friendly appeal of a good rotational.

Despite its camber-induced specification, the Lightning remains relatively easy to rig, and combines the best attributes of a race sail with the user-friendly appeal of a good rotational. The Lightning equals stunning performance, with an ease of use that the older camber induced sails could never approach.

Tushingham X 15Tushingham X 15 Ref: 191
X-15 means performance across a range of disciplines but sharing one simple aim Ð To be the fastest!

The sizes 5.2m to 7.7m are optimised for pure Speed/Slalom applications whilst the larger sizes are aimed at racing performance on a Formula board. The 9.0m is something of a crossover size, being suitable for both light wind slalom and high wind racing. Multi cam, multi batten designs like the X-15 have the reputation of being difficult to handle and difficult to rig. Tushingham have paid a great deal of attention to these aspects; with a new camber inducer design (which has the rollers on the tips) and with a specially developed rigging procedure he X-15 is now far more user friendly in this respect. Once rigged the performance on the water is electric with a super stable sail shape that invites the strongest of gusts. Designed without compromise for big winds and maximum speed it features; 8 battens, 5 cams and a very low drag, light feel. It won't pull your arms out of their sockets as you may expect, but its slippery foil shape will keep accelerating as long as the wind keeps blowing and you keep your nerve. The X-15 has been developed to improve its performance in gusty and choppy conditions but it retains an almost unlimited 'top end' speed! The X-15 is the first choice for sailors seeking outright performance in fully powered challenging conditions.

Tushingham Wedge Tushingham Wedge Ref: 375
Brand new for 2008 the latest Wedge was developed in association with British Freestyle Champion, Andy 'Bubble' Chambers. It's the most radical sail in the collection with a very different feel to the Ken Black 'norm'. The Wedge is optimised for instant response above outright performance. The striking lightweight design features shorter boom lengths, more pre-cut fullness in the lower sections and a special luff curve that allows the sail to twist efficiently with low downhaul loads. This reduces top end control but gives an instant response for acceleration into radical moves, at the same time de-powering immediately when the sail is sheeted out. More downhaul can be applied if required, which will give the control needed in higher winds and more demanding conditions. A very specialised design, the Wedge offers perfect control for the freestyle sailor. Freestyling appeals particularly to the younger sailor which is why the range now extends down to include a 4.6m size.

Tushingham Dino RigTushingham Dino Rig Ref: 36
Dino - High performance for kids

Not all kids are beginners. The Dino is a true high performance sail, in sizes as low as 2 square metres. The key element is the super-light and highly responsive Carbon 60 Dino mast. This is not only much lighter than anything previously available, but is far softer, so that it has the scaled down dynamics of a full size performance mast. This allows us to cut a sail that reacts in exactly the same way as a full size sail. 30 knots of planing performance can now be a reality for kids with the required level of skill. However, the Dino is not solely the preserve of highly skilled youngsters. Its light weight and balanced feel also make it perfect for novice kids even for their first attempt.
