North extensions feature a downhaul ratchet system set into the base, which allows you to adjust downhaul settings, putting on more or less as required, without having to pull ropes - even when on the water,

allowing fine tuning of the rig.

The weight of the complete unit is virtually identical to a standard extension and uses the standard north pin fitting .
